This International Women’s Day, The Bombay Circle Press is proud to celebrate our female authors who are changing the world for the better with their words. Rich in intersectional themes, their writings explore what it means to become a woman along with race, class, socio-political contexts and so much more. Their works are not just of great quality, but also vital for sanity in the modern times.
Asha Thanki
She is the winner of the 2019 Arkansas International Emerging Writers Prize and fourth prize winner of Zoetrope’s 2020 Short Fiction Competition. A Thousand Times Before is her debut novel which won the 2025 Balcones Prize. It was the 2024 Best Book of the Year by NPR & the Boston Globe. It also was selected as July 2024 Book of the Month.
Beena Kamlani
Beena Kamlani’s debut novel, The English Problem, was published in the U.S. by Crown/Penguin Random House in January 2025 and in India by The Bombay Circle Press in January 2026. As former senior editor at Viking Penguin, she edited a wide range of books by authors and debut writers as well as Nobel, National Book Award, Pulitzer, and Booker prize winners and nominees.
C. L. Peache
She loves writing but she lets her characters decide which story to tell, leaving her no say in what genre turns up on the page! Clair has dabbled in writing many different genres including; chick-lit, fantasy, horror and thriller. She has published three books exclusively with The Bombay Circle Press: Power of Nature: a thriller, Finding Love, a romance novel and One Step Ahead, a mystery novel based in Jersey.
Chloe Michelle Howarth
Chloe Michelle Howarth was born in July 1996. She grew up in the West Cork countryside, which has served as an inspiration for her writing. She attended university at IADT in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, where she studied English, Media and Cultural Studies. Chloe currently lives in Brighton. Sunburn is her debut novel.
Danielle Hays
She’s been writing since the age of ten, everything from epic fantasy to superhero adventures to contemporary romance. Chloe Cameron’s Guide to Accidentally Dating a Rockstar is her debut novel, a contemporary romance that was sparked by her ever-present love for her favorite bands from her teen years. She currently lives in Michigan, where she works as a librarian specializing in children’s and teen literature.
Dr Liat Yakir
Dr. Yakir is a biologist, author, and lecturer in the fields of the biology of emotions and human behavior. She has a Ph.D. in genetics and an M.Sc. in hormone. Her extensive training in biology, made Dr. Yakir one of the most sought-after lecturers in many countries. Her first book, A Brief History of Love, about the biology of romantic love, was published recently by Watkins Publishing and is an international best-seller.
Ellie Martin McKinsey
Writing was never something Ellie set out to do, it was more that she stumbled into it by accident, after watching a television show and feeling like she could have written and utilized the characters better. When not at her day job or writing, Ellie can be found drinking tea, watching tv, or dancing wherever she can find space.
Georgina Clarke
Georgina Clarke has a degree in theology and completed a PhD in history part-time, while working as a parish priest. Her Lizzie Hardwicke crime series (published by Canelo) is set in the mid-eighteenth century, and her latest novel, The Dazzle of the Light—unfolds in 1920s London and is inspired by the real-life activities of the women-led Forty Thieves crime syndicate.
Hope Bolinger
Hope Bolinger is an autistic acquisitions editor and a multi-published author. Her 20th book will be released this year, and she’s honestly not sure how her fingers haven’t fallen off yet from typing so much. She’s experienced a parallel relationship of her own: having met a guy 2400 miles away on a meme (yes, a meme) and is getting married to him this summer. Find out more about her at hopebolinger.com
Jackelyn Van Buren
Jackelyn Van Buren has always loved romance novels, ever since she found an abandoned box of vintage bodice rippers as a young girl. She was immediately imprinted on passionate stories taking place in faraway places (with names like Paradise Island). She has a Ph.D. in Linguistics and thinks language is one of the most fascinating aspects of being human. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two rambunctious little boys.
Janie Emaus
Janie Emaus believes when the world is falling apart, we’re just one laugh away from putting it together again. She is the author of the blended holiday picture books, Latkes for Santa Claus, a finalist in the 2022 International Book Awards and Easter Eggs & Matzo Balls, as well as the novel The Time Traveling Matchmaker. Bushra Satkhed
Bushra Satkhed is an Indian journalist and author. She has worked for prestigious publications such as Mirror Now (Times Network), NDTV, and The Indian Express. She loves to experiment with every genre of fiction and has successfully authored murder mystery thrillers, children’s illustrated books, a cookbook and now a historical romance drama.
Ankita Kulkarni
Ankita is a writer by profession and a passionate storyteller. She has always been curious about the things that go bump in the night. She completed her Masters in Creative Writing from Loughborough University and was inspired to take a dive into the world of horror fiction ever since.
Jonita Davis
Jonita Davis is a film critic, writer, and pop culture junkie behind the online publication The Black C.A.P.E. magazine. She is also a freelance writer, a published author, an English professor, and a podcaster. She has a master’s degree in English from Purdue University and teaches writing at Waubonsee Community College.
Neerja Pawar
With an editorial eye for what audiences want and an innate ability to write prose that elicits anticipation, Neerja embodies a niche that she wants to see in the world. When she isn’t busy trying to be on either side of a book, she loves lazing at home, curled up with some black coffee and a murder documentary.
Lizzy Barber
Lizzy Barber read English at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Her first novel My Name is Anna was a Daily Mail First novel winner, a Richard & Judy pick and was published in 2019 in the UK by Penguin Random House. Lizzy lives in London with her husband, George, their son Marlowe, and daughter Juniper.
Krista Lynne White
Krista is a former executive recruiter who fell so hard for writing, that stories soon consumed her every idle thought. Krista lives in an idyllic Southern Ontario hamlet with her husband, sons and vegetable garden. She’s published a handful of short stories and The Birdcage is her first story published with The Bombay Circle Press.
M.Q. Nguyen
M.Q. Nguyen knew she wanted to be a writer early on. When she is not writing immense scenes for her works of fiction, she divides her time between contributing to music sites and editing web novels. She is currently working on a slew of titles, hopefully to be released soon!
