Book Clubs in Chennai

If you are a reader looking to meet more people like you but have a hard time finding them, do not worry, The Bombay Circle Press has got you covered. We have collated a list of book clubs across India that you are bound to love! Book clubs not only give you a sense of community but also play a major role in enhancing your literary skills. No matter what kind of fiction genres you prefer, there is space for everyone.

Tower Reads

Started in August 2023 by Krishnakumar and Kamatchi, Tower Reads book club has now grown into a close-knit group of dedicated readers. Sessions are held every Saturday morning at Anna Nagar Tower Park from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. “While primarily attended by adults, we’ve also had the joy of hosting 2 to 3 young book lovers who have joined us in discovering the magic of stories. To include more children in our club, we encouraged our fellow readers to bring children they know or share information about the club with parents,” the club said.

Bessy Reads

Offering a peaceful and tranquil reading atmosphere along the shore of Besant Nagar Beach, Bessy Reads is an open, silent reading community that convenes every Sunday from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Besant Nagar Beach. Founded in 2022 and now handled by Kruthika, the group offers a space for people who want to read, draw, or paint while enjoying the serene beach atmosphere. Kruthika says that they have had parents who would recite stories to their children at the reading sessions and cultivate the habit of book reading among children. The book club plans to introduce themes that are specifically for children so that playdate-like ideas become more engaging and fun. The idea is to bring more children together and to make them read books so that they get quality time, which helps in the development of empathy and understanding that’s often overshadowed by the advent of smartphones.

Broke Bibliophiles – Chennai

Broke Bibliophiles is a nation-wide book club, with individual chapters in different cities. The name in itself is a huge draw for people as it is a sentiment that runs deep among bibliophiles who often feel like they don’t have enough money to splurge on all the books they want. The discussions are based on what the members are currently reading or have finished reading recently, which makes it a great place to pick up recommendations to add to your reading list. The conversation is freewheeling and engaging, making it a time well spent, as well as a fun way to meet new people who share a common interest and love for books! The Chennai chapter completed 10 years this year, and was founded by Solomon Manoj.

LoveLit Society

Founded by Radhika Nathany in 2025, LoveLit Society is one of Chennai’s newer book clubs and already has a warm, welcoming community around it. The club holds monthly meetings at cafes across the city, making each gathering feel like a cosy catch-up among friends. LoveLit Society reads across contemporary fiction and a variety of genres, so there is always something for everyone. If you are looking to try something new socially and share your love of books over a good cup of coffee, LoveLit Society is the perfect place to start.

Book Club Of Chennai

Founded by Rajashree Hatka, the Book Club Of Chennai may be relatively new, but it has already built a safe and spirited space for readers, with nine meets under its belt. Each gathering invites members to bring along whatever they are reading and dive into open, honest conversations about their books, whether that means raving, ranting, or everything in between. Members also exchange recommendations, making every meet a great opportunity to discover your next favourite read. With monthly meetings that feel more like lively literary salons than formal discussions, the Book Club Of Chennai is a wonderful spot for anyone looking to connect with fellow readers in a relaxed, judgment-free environment.
