Kolkata Bookworms
2022 saw the beginning of a book club that started with meeting on a monthly basis. The book club’s activities extend beyond discussing just books — from reading choices, bookish games, book read-alongs and even cleaning your bookshelves, the members discuss them all, creating a fun space for book lovers to connect. With book launches being a part of their routine, this is a common space to meet authors and discuss their stories and the process of writing with them. Kolkata Reads
Beginning in 2023, @kolkatareads is a silent reading community where people come together to read silently from 9:30 am every Sunday at the Rabindra Sarovar, Kolkata.
With a mission to make reading a public affair in Kolkata, Kolkata Reads allows you to bring your reading outdoors, and spend time with their community. There’s no entry fee, no registration required, no formality; all you need to do is to show up with a mat and a book.
The Kolkata Book Club
Hosting weekly meetups with tea, this reading club is perfect for those readers wanting to get back into reading. This is a great way to get outside, meet new people, and be held accountable with your reading. IISER Literary Club
The IISER Literary Club is a cultural club created by the science nerds at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata. Partly a place for them to have fun, this club acts as a platform to promote creativity, alongside a space to discuss books. They publish their college’s annual magazine, and conduct various events like story writing competitions, debates, quizzes, and spelling bees.
